Salobre Golf
Recently inaugurated, this is one of the newest golf courses on the island of Gran Canaria. It is situated in a typical landscape of the southern part of the island, with ravines, volcanic earth, views of mountains and sea. The lush scenery and green gardens are in start contrast with the desert surroundings.
Dave Thomas and Roland Fauré designed this interesting and demanding course, on which you have to use all your skills if you want to be successful. The natural features of the landscape and the indigenous vegetation have played an important part.
Echoing with the common characteristic of the Gran Canarian countryside, more than 600 species of plants and trees have been established to give beauty to the area. Salobre currently has a par 71, 18-hole course occupying a six-kilometre area and a second course is under construction.
Its facilities include a golf school, practice area, driving-range, putting green, club hire, hydro-massage, valet parking, pro-shop and a restaurant with terrace. Do not fail to visit the inland areas of the island with their unique scenery which are living testimony to the volcanic origins of Gran Canaria, or the south-east coast with its beaches of fine golden sand. One of the most entertaining trips is to take a camel ride through the landscape of dunes and sea in the Maspalomas nature reserve. |
