The new holes at Pinheiros Altos Golf Course are integrate with the former first nine holes to form two par 36 nine holes. The former back nine will, for now, remain the same and complete the 27 holes. The new holes incorporate four large lakes, three of which are connected by a rambling brook and on seven of the new 9 holes the golfers ball could find a watery grave! Add to this the ancient existing cork trees, the old nora, the picturesque views over the Ludo valley to the Goldra hills beyond and the several hundred strategically placed pine trees due to be planted this year and you have a golf course like the best female spies. Beautiful but dangerous! The beauty of the design by todays most talented Portuguese golf course architect, Jorge Santana da Silva is not only aesthetic but strategic. It is very much “risk and reward” and it will seem that on each hole the golfer is faced with the decision to play safe or attack. Todays Pinheiros Altos course is a far cry from the course that opened in 1992. We have been polishing a rough diamond and we have just acquired another but the polishing will not stop there. Like any good business there will be no standing still at Pinheiros Altos. We have expressed the benefits of what we have and are about to have but we also have many ideas for the future. This work will take years to complete but the 27 holes will continually offer enjoyment to all who play it with some pleasant surprises along the way.
